“extend” system

This duffle bag comes with our “Extend” system so you can vary the bag's volume. It's a system of straps that free up extra space when loosened. Conversely, it also compresses the bag to reduce it to its minimum volume (40 L for this one).

How is bag volume measured?

The volume of each backpack is measured using a standard method: we use small balls to fill the main compartment as well as each pocket. We then empty the balls into a graduated container, which provides the equivalent volume in litres.

Technical tests

We complete laboratory tests to certify components: fabrics, buckles, straps, foam, zips... for example, for a fabric: resistance to abrasion and tearing, colour-fastness in UV light, resistance to washing, waterproofing, etc.A test is then conducted on the finished product replicating the accelerated demands on the bag over the years to check the strength of the assembly.

Product Testing

Here at DECATHLON, our products are tested by a panel of users in the real-life conditions for which they were designed. At FORCLAZ, these tests are organised on the mountains, led by a team of engineers from our design centre, who are responsible for this mission.Our product managers, engineers and the entire team use the results of these tests to develop and create technical products to ensure the satisfaction of our customers
