Specifications

How is the warmth of the down jacket measured?

This down jacket was tested in a thermal chamber on a mannequin wearing a synthetic long-sleeve t-shirt and a lightweight fleece in a simulated 3 mph wind. This test confirmed a comfort temperature of 27°F during physical activity.

What are the benefits of a duck down and feather filling?

Duck down is perfectly suited for mountain sports thanks to three key qualities:- Thermal insulation: By trapping air, duck down and feathers lock in body heat.- Ultralight: For the same level of warmth, down is significantly lighter than synthetic fill.- Highly packable: Compresses easily to save space in your pack.

What is fill power?

Fill power indicates down's thermal insulation capacity, which is achieved by trapping a specific volume of air. The higher the fill power (measured in CUIN), the more loft it has—trapping more air to deliver greater insulation. Crafted with 90% recycled down and 10% recycled feathers, this jacket is guaranteed to provide a 700+ fill power (international standard).

What are recycled feathers?

Using recycled feathers involves using a mixture of down and feathers from products that cannot be reused. This limits the use of new resources by recycling existing materials that would otherwise be discarded. The quality of the filling is checked through lab tests to make sure it maintains its technical properties and keeps you warm.

Is this jacket water-repellent or waterproof?

This puffer jacket is water-repellent, allowing water to bead up and roll off the surface without being absorbed. This prevents the fabric from waterlogging so it stays lightweight and warm. The outer shell features a PFC-free finish that can wear off over time. We recommend reactivating the water repellency after every wash using a waterproofing treatment. If you’re heading out in heavy rain, we suggest pairing this down jacket under a waterproof shell.

How to care for a down jacket?

Worn all winter, your puffer jacket will inevitably need washing. However, wash it sparingly to preserve its thermal insulation and water repellency. Machine wash at room temperature on a gentle spin cycle with 2-3 tennis balls and a detergent designed for down or technical apparel. Tumble dry on a standard cotton setting with the tennis balls, repeating the process until completely dry.

How can I restore the fabric’s water-repellency?

Once you have cleaned your puffer jacket, we recommend using a waterproofing spray to preserve the outer fabric's weather resistance. This restores the durable water-repellent finish and optimizes performance throughout the lifespan of your garment.

If my down jacket gets snagged, can it be repaired?

Snags and tears can happen quickly on the trail. We recommend using our self-adhesive repair patches to fix your down jacket and prevent insulation loss. Alternatively, visit the Workshop at your local Decathlon store for a professional repair.

Product Testing

All our down jackets are lab-tested on a thermal mannequin in a simulated 3 mph wind, worn over a long-sleeve t-shirt and a lightweight fleece. We rate their thermal insulation on a scale from 1 to 5, so you can easily choose the right level of warmth for your needs.
